Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Chief Frank Harwood and Coeur d’Alene Fire Department Battalion Chief John Morrison Shot: Support Fund for Fallen & Injured Heroes
On June 29th, the community of Coeur d'Alene and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue suffered an unthinkable tragedy. The brave Coeur d'Alene and Kootenai County firefighters responded to a brush fire on Canfield Mountain, only to be met with a cowardly and brutal ambush.
In a horrifying shooting, at least two of their dedicated firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice, losing their lives while protecting our homes and our lives. Several other firefighters sustained serious injuries in this horrific attack on Coeur d'Alene and Kootenai County firefighters.
This heinous act has shaken us to our core. Our firefighters are not just public servants; they are our neighbors, our friends, and our family. They rush into danger when others flee, always putting the safety of our community first.
They faced an unprecedented assault, and our hearts are broken for those we lost and those who are now fighting for their lives.
The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and Kootenai County Fire Department are reeling from this devastating loss.
Our focus is on supporting the families of the fallen heroes and providing the best possible care for our injured firefighters. We are also committed to ensuring our department has the resources needed to continue serving Coeur d'Alene and Kootenai County through this incredibly difficult time.
